Species of the Month: July 2015
Golden-ringed Dragonfly: Cordulegaster boltonii
July is the perfect time of year to see this magnificent dragonfly, a creature of high summer. Aptly named, this unmistakeable species is striped by golden rings, and has striking green eyes. Although not a garden species for the majority of us, this species is well worth seeking out. More information about Golden-ringed Dragonfly is available from the British Dragonfly Society website.
This map on Aderyn shows the distribution of Golden-ringed Dragonfly at a 10km square level for the whole of Wales. Zoom in or click on a 10km square to see the 1km square record distribution.
If you spot a Golden-ringed Dragonfly during July (or see the species at any other time of year), please send us the record, ideally via SEWBReCORD or the LERC Wales App. Instructions on how to submit records are available here.
