Species of the Month: April 2015

Rabbit: Oryctolagus cuniculus

Another common yet under-recorded species, Rabbits are present in almost all habitats in Wales. We hold just over 1,500 records for the species, yet there are still several 1km squares within the SEWBReC area which contain zero records. There is more information about the ecology of Rabbits is available on NatureSpot.

This map on Aderyn shows the distribution of Rabbits at a 10km square level for the whole of Wales. Zoom in or click on a 10km square to see the 1km square record distribution.

If you spot Rabbits during April (or see the species at any other time of year), whether it's in an empty square or not, please send us the record, ideally via SEWBReCORD or the LERC Wales App. Instructions on how to submit records are available here.
